Modern Slavery Statement
Paddington Carpet Cleaners Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps taken by Paddington Carpet Cleaners to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and exploitation within our operations and supply chains. We are committed to conducting our business ethically, transparently and with respect for the rights and dignity of every person who contributes to our services.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Paddington Carpet Cleaners provides professional carpet and upholstery cleaning services to residential and commercial customers. Our core operations include direct employment of cleaning staff, use of specialist cleaning products and equipment, and engagement of third-party suppliers and contractors to support our service delivery.
Our supply chains include manufacturers and distributors of cleaning products, machinery and consumables, as well as providers of uniforms, transport, facilities management and other business services. We recognise that modern slavery risks can exist at multiple levels of these supply chains, especially where goods or components originate from higher-risk regions or low-wage sectors.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
Paddington Carpet Cleaners has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking in any form. We will not knowingly engage with, or support, any organisation that is involved in forced labour, debt bondage, servitude, child labour or any practice that deprives individuals of their freedom and fundamental rights.
All employees, contractors and suppliers are expected to act in accordance with this policy and with applicable labour, employment and human rights laws. Any breach of our zero-tolerance approach is treated as a serious matter and may result in termination of contracts, reporting to relevant authorities and further remedial action as appropriate.
Supplier Standards and Audits
To uphold our commitment, we seek to work only with suppliers and partners who share our values and can demonstrate responsible labour practices. As part of our supplier management, we aim to:
Clearly communicate our modern slavery expectations during supplier selection and onboarding.
Include contractual obligations requiring compliance with modern slavery, human rights and labour legislation where relevant.
Request information from key suppliers about their own policies, due diligence processes and workforce conditions.
Conduct proportionate checks and audits of higher-risk suppliers, which may include document reviews, site visits and follow-up conversations to verify compliance.
If a supplier is unable or unwilling to address identified concerns, we will consider appropriate steps, which may include suspending or ending the business relationship.
Employee Awareness and Reporting Channels
We are committed to creating an environment in which concerns about modern slavery can be raised without fear of retaliation. All staff are encouraged to be vigilant and to report any situation that may indicate exploitation, unsafe working conditions or unethical recruitment practices within our operations or supply chains.
Concerns can be raised through line managers, senior management or other established internal channels. Reports will be treated sensitively, investigated promptly and handled, as far as possible, in a confidential and respectful manner. Where appropriate, we may engage independent advice or escalate matters to relevant external authorities.
No one who raises a concern in good faith will suffer dismissal, disciplinary action or other detrimental treatment as a result of speaking up.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Paddington Carpet Cleaners recognises that addressing the risks of modern slavery is an ongoing responsibility. We are committed to regularly reviewing and improving our policies, procedures and due diligence activities to reflect evolving best practice and any changes in our operations or supply chains.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least once every twelve months by senior management. As part of each annual review, we will consider the effectiveness of our actions, feedback from employees and suppliers, and any incidents or concerns raised. Where necessary, we will update our processes, strengthen controls and provide additional guidance or training.
This Statement has been approved by the management of Paddington Carpet Cleaners and reflects our continued determination to prevent modern slavery and protect the rights and welfare of all individuals connected with our business.
